Geo-Leak Lead Sheet

A call list of local businesses that are paying for Facebook and Instagram ads in a country where they cannot get a single customer. Every row is a real business, a real live ad, and the proof.

What these leads are

A plumber in Texas cannot fix a sink in Montreal. But his Facebook ad is showing in Montreal right now, and he is paying for every click. That happens when the location setting on the campaign is wrong: set to "worldwide", set to "United States and Canada", or left blank. The business owner almost never knows. This list finds those businesses.

The edge

Most cold calls to a business owner are a pitch. This one is a favour. You open with a fact they can check in two minutes in their own Ads Manager: "Your ads are running in Canada and you can't serve anyone there." You just saved them money. That earns the second conversation, which is where you offer to run their ads properly.

How each lead was found

We searched Meta's public Ad Library for local-service ads that are live in Canada (and separately, live in the US). Then we proved where each business really is: its phone area code, the address on its website, and what the ad itself says. Only businesses with clear proof on two or more of those made the list. Product sellers, online services, national chains, and job ads were removed, because they can legitimately reach across the border.

The two directions

Foreign → Canada is the main list: US (and a few UK and Australian) businesses whose ads are showing in Canada. Canada → US is the reverse: Canadian businesses whose ads are showing in the US. The Quebec rows in that list are local to us.

The tiers, simplest first

Tier 1, worldwide. Their ads are also live in the UK and Australia. The campaign is set to the whole world. Strongest case, easiest call.

Tier 2, national spill. The business is in a US state that does not touch Canada, so there is no innocent explanation. The campaign is set to "US and Canada" or has no location at all.

Tier 3, border spill. The business sits in a state that touches Canada (Michigan, New York, Washington, and so on). Their ad radius may simply cross the border. Still wasted money, but the fix is one click, so the pitch is softer.

Owner-reachable ranking

The list is now ordered by how likely a call reaches the owner, not by how much the business spends. Solo and Small mean the signals point to a one-person or a few-person shop: few page likes, one or two ads, boosted posts with no agency tracking, and first-person copy. A cell chip beside a phone number means that number is a mobile line, so it very likely rings the owner directly.

Rows marked phrase were found by the wording of the ad itself — "call or text me", "family owned", "free estimate" — which is the strongest owner signal we have, because an agency almost never writes that way.

Reading a row

Days live is how long their longest-running ad has been showing in the wrong country. Ads is how many of their ads are live there right now. More days and more ads means more money wasted and a stronger opener. Also seen lists the other countries we caught the same ads in. Click any row to see the actual ad text and the proof of where the business is.
